WELCOME TO ANTIOCH LITTLE LEAGUE
Don't you mean Antioch West Little League?
NO!  I MEAN ANTIOCH LITTLE LEAGUE.
What happened?
ANTIOCH EAST AND ANTIOCH WEST HAVE BEEN TRYING TO COMBINE FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS AND IT HAS FINALLY HAPPENED
What does this mean?
IT MEANS THAT ANYONE WHO LIVES IN ANTIOCH CAN BE ON THE SAME TEAM AS ANYONE ELSE WHO LIVES IN ANTIOCH NO MATTER WHERE THEY LIVE
Why did they merge?
THEY MERGED BECAUSE IT WAS THE RIGHT THING TO DO FOR LITTLE LEAGUE TO PROPERLY SERVE ANTIOCH.  HAVING AN EAST AND A WEST LEAGUE JUST MADE IT VERY CONFUSING TO EVERYONE AND EACH LEAGUE WAS DUPLICATING EVERYTHING
 Why did they split?
OVER 40 YEARS AGO LITTLE LEAGUE SPLIT ANTIOCH INTO AN EAST AND A WEST BECAUSE THERE WAS A RULE THAT SAID NO LEAGUE COULD HAVE IN ITS BOUNDARIES MORE THAN 20,000 PEOPLE.  AT ONE TIME THERE WAS EVEN TALK ABOUT MAKING AN ANTIOCH CENTRAL.  BUT WHEN IT WAS SPLIT ONE BOARD CONTROLLED BOTH THE EAST AND WEST.  TEN YEARS AGO THEY SEPERATED COMPLETELY BECAUSE IT WAS THOUGHT THAT THE OPERATION WOULD RUN SMOOTHER WITH EACH LEAGUE HAVING ITS OWN BOARD OF DIRECTORS.  HOWEVER THE INCREASE IN EFFICIENCY DIDN'T HAPPEN SO THE LEAGUES ASKED FOR PERMISSION TO RECOMBINE.  IT WASN'T UNTIL LAST YEAR THAT LITTLE LEAGUE FINALLY REMOVED THE POPULATION CLAUSE IN THEIR BY-LAWS SO THAT THE TWO LEAGUES COULD COMBINE.
So is it official?
NOT QUITE YET.  IT HAS BEEN APPROVED AT ALL LEVELS, BUT TECHNICALLY IT IS NOT OFFICIAL UNTIL THE NEW CHARTER IS ISSUED AT THE END OF THIS YEAR.
So is the new board primarily east or west?
NEITHER, IT IS MADE UP OF ANTIOCH LITTLE LEAGUE BOARD MEMBERS.  A BRAND NEW PRESIDENT HAS BEEN ELECTED THAT WASN'T A PRESIDENT OF EAST OR WEST.  THE STRENGTHS OF BOTH LEAGUES HAVE COME TOGETHER TO FORM WHAT WILL BE THE PREMIER YOUTH SPORTS ORGANIZATION IN THE COUNTY.
How experienced are they?
SOME HAVE BEEN ASSOCIATED WITH LITTLE LEAGUE FOR OVER 40 YEARS.  THERE ARE MANY PAST PRESIDENTS ON THE BOARD.  EVERYONE, BUT TWO HAVE SERVED ON THE BOARD BEFORE.  THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST EXPERIENCED BOARDS IN ANTIOCH LITTLE LEAGUE'S HISTORY.
Who are the new officers?

Von Honey President

Congratulations to the AWLL senior softball (13-16)  all-star team that won the district championships.  Last year AELL's senior softball all-star team won the District championship.  It is great to keep the championship banner in Antioch.
Did you know that AELL and AWLL combine to form the largest softball program for girls age 13-16 in the county?  It has been around since 1974 and has a proud tradition.  Be part of it in 2009 when the two leagues tentatively combine.
